Ideas pool

Any useful (or useless) idea that comes to mind
  • http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-Proj-Mgmt-HOWTO/
  • Producing Open Source Software
  • KISS principle - Keep It Simple Stupid - Does it apply to development process or the user experience? Or both?
    • Ideally to both. Of course you can't have simple solution to a complex problem but you can subdivide the big problem into smaller ones. Divide and conquer.
  • Features (to review and prioritize later):
    • Multi-currency support
    • Customizable tax definitions (e.g. GST, Income tax, fringe benefits, etc)
    • Helper reports (e.g. GST return sample with all the amounts entered)
    • Important dates reminders (e.g. end of year tax return, etc.)
    • Bank Statements import
    • Predefined Accounts/Categories templates for different business types.
    • Invoices
    • Stock
    • General journal
    • Statement reconciliation
    • Asset tracking - with automatic depreciation calculation. This might actually be quite useful as a stand alone utility, which we can also integrate into the full accounting package.
    • Session logs (to product session reports)
    • Automatic GST reconciliation reports creation when doing any changes to transactions that impact filed GST returns.
    • Automatic journal entries (e.g. when GST return filed - to clear GST for previous period)
    • "End-of-year" commands.
